About John Hartig
I am retired. I learned my photographic skills in 1977 when I worked for a community newspaper in Chilliwack, B.C. My first camera was a Konica TC which lasted a good 15 years. I now carry a Nikon D700 which I use for my Niagara scenery and my weddings.
I've done a variety of things during my life-time: news reporting, editing, teaching, web designing and my current passion, photographing scenery and weddings in the Niagara Region. I believe that you don’t have to go through life being just one thing because there’s got to be more to life than merely living!
As a retired person, I've been able to practise a lot of things with my camera and with my computer. In 2003, I took night school at Mohawk College in web design and photoshop. I acquired a Webmaster Certificate in 2007. Here is a brief list of the skills I've applied to my own family photos, my web sites and my scenery books on Niagara.
